Anthony Gordon would ‘love’ Newcastle United to sign £50m England team-mate

Anthony Gordon has heaped praise on his England team-mate amid previous transfer links with Newcastle United

Anthony Gordon has never hidden the fact that he would be thrilled to have Marc Guehi, his teammate from England, join him at Newcastle United in the future.

The Crystal Palace player was strongly linked to a summer transfer to St James’ Park as the Magpies planned a possible summer spending binge at the center of Eddie Howe’s defense. In the end, Guehi chose to remain at Selhurst Park, where his reputation has only grown.

In addition to having a strong start to his Euro 2024 campaign with England in their opening match of the competition last week, Guehi has obviously impressed Gordon throughout their time together, both as a senior and a young player.

“He is top,” the Newcastle player said to talkSPORT. He plays the game so well. He is such a nice guy, and I’m delighted the country got to see him shine on that stage. He deserves everything that is coming to him.

In light of his height in relation to the strikers they were wearing, I felt he was amazing in that match. His primary skill is his composure on the ball; he’s like a midfielder, so he and Stones at the back make a terrific combination. He won every header and was active, intercepting many of balls.

“I haven’t seen the Newcastle links, but it goes without saying that I think he’s a fantastic player and would improve our team greatly if he came.”

After losing out on Tosin Adarabioyo, another free agency, Newcastle has already bolstered their defense with the addition of Lloyd Kelly. However, there is still a chance that another central defensive player will sign before the window closes.
