The Premier League reverses the embargo on Aston Villa and Wolves.

The Premier League has officially announced a modification to their customary team news embargo on game days.

From the beginning of the 2024–2025 season, each of the 20 top-tier English clubs will handle their media responsibilities a little bit differently, doing away with the customary one-hour embargo prior to kickoff.

Matchday lineups and substitutions will now be revealed by clubs inside a new window that closes 75 minutes prior to kickoff. The Premier League has changed to conform to the procedures that UEFA has set forth for the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League.

Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, and the other eighteen teams in the division will now have an additional fifteen minutes to consider their teams’ lineups. For fantasy football players anxious to see if their selected stars are starting, benched, or out of the lineup completely, it also gives them a little advance warning.

The Premier League is implementing a number of measures to enhance the fan experience on matchdays. In order to speed up refereeing assessments, semi-automated offsides will shortly be used. Additional VAR changes are also anticipated.

Given that the Old Gold recently led an effort to completely ban the technology, Wolves will be especially interested to see how the VAR modifications turn out. The motion was not successful, with Wanderers being remarkably outvoted 19-1; but, it reignited the debate and kept the Premier League alert.
