The forward says yes to joining Tottenham, and Levy is prepared to support Ange with £100 million.

Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham, is prepared to support Ange Postecoglou with a £100 million summer spending spree, and a player is rumoured to have verbally agreed to terms to join the north London team.

Postecoglou gives scathing assessment of Spurs squad

In a speech earlier this year, Postecoglou delivered a harsh critique of his current team, who ultimately succeeded in qualifying for next season’s Europa League despite the absence of former all-star striker Harry Kane.

When Postecoglou originally replaced Antonio Conte in north London, the deck was loaded against him because the club had just lost its all-time top scorer to Bayern Munich that summer and there were widespread grievances stemming from the terrible conclusion to Conte’s tenure.

However, the Australian’s brand of football and electric start to life at Tottenham turned many heads, and while they couldn’t quite seal a place in the Champions League pot for next term, there are certainly positives to build upon.

Tottenham 4-1 Newcastle
Burnley 2-5 Tottenham
Man City 3-3 Tottenham
Tottenham 2-0 Man United

Though Postecoglou acknowledges that this Spurs team needs several windows of upgrading before they can compete at the top of the Premier League.

“The squad still has a lot of work ahead of it, and I don’t think we’re close to where we want to be. Regarding Tottenham’s present squad, Postecoglou stated, “It will definitely take a little bit more than three windows to get there.”

“Just in terms of the robustness, adaptability, and compatibility of the squad, I think there’s still a fair bit of change we need to do. I certainly don’t think we’re one or two players away from getting to where I want us to be, nowhere near it. Some of that will be natural evolution. Some of it hopefully means we continue to get the improvement we’ve had this year from some of our players. If that happens over the next 12 months, then we’ll be in a great position.“But keep in mind that several of the players in our group are just starting their debut season in the Premier League. Since many of them have always been there, we need them to continue developing at the same rate. With the squad, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. I don’t think we’ll get close to where we want to go with just one or two players.”Football Transfers this week reported that Levy is prepared to spend money on behalf of Postecoglou as he attempts to assemble a successful squad.

Levy ready to spend £100m as Toney agrees terms to join TottenhamFT claim Levy is prepared to support Postecoglou with a £100 million budget this summer, and it is believed they’ve made headway in pursuit of a potential Kane replacement – Brentford star Ivan Toney.Toney and Tottenham, who Brentford estimates to be worth approximately £65 million, have verbally agreed on personal terms. However, considering the England international’s contract status, there is a suggestion that a trade could be completed for approximately £55 million.Although Thomas Frank’s team recently rejected Spurs’ initial £40 million offer for Toney, it is believed that the team has the financial resources to outbid rivals for the player. Even though club-to-club negotiations are still ongoing, it seems that player terms have been settled very quickly. This could be one to watch, since several sources have said that Tottenham is eager to recruit Kane’s successor this summer.
