Everton considering a transfer for the prodigy of Aston Villa

Aston Villa is willing to transfer teenage midfielder Tim Iroegbunam to Everton, who is considering a move for him.

Tim Iroegbunam, a midfielder for Aston Villa, is reportedly a target for Everton.

The 20-year-old midfielder has found it difficult to get playing time in the Midlands, and according to the ECHO, Villa is willing to let him leave this summer.

The Blues’ interest comes in the midst of concerns about Amadou Onana’s future and with

Iroegbunam joined Villa in July 2021 after growing up at West Bromwich Albion’s academy. He had a breakthrough senior season the next year while on loan at QPR, when he became an important member of the Championship team. He played Premier League football for Villa, but he has struggled to find significant opportunities, even when Unai Emery had to rely on his team due to a hectic season that saw them make it to the Champions League but lose in the Europa Conference League semifinals.

Iroegbunam’s chances will likely be limited as Villa plans to bolster their midfield throughout the summer, thus the club is open to offers. Because of its financial situation, Everton has limited resources, especially with the league spending restrictions deadline approaching at the end of the month. However, given Villa’s willingness to negotiate, a deal could be completed this summer. Iroegbunam is a young player with potential who fits the mould of a player that football director Kevin Thelwell has identified as essential to Everton’s long-term plan.

Additionally, he would provide depth to a position where Everton found it difficult to find coverage the previous season, especially in January when injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations limited the team to starting just one recognised senior centre midfielder, James Garner, at Fulham. Specifically, Gomes’s departure

will make aiming for reinforcements in the centre a beneficial goal.
