‘End of story’ – Club post strong reaction as agent of Newcastle United ‘target’ drops transfer hint

Napoli have posted a strong response to comments from Mamuka Jugeli surrounding the future of winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

After making an impression during his two years in Naples, the Georgian has been linked to a high-profile move away from the Serie A club this summer. Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are among the teams reportedly interested in signing him.

Over the previous two seasons, Kvaratskhelia has scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists. In the 2022–2023 campaign, he assisted Napoli in winning the Scudetto. Jugeli disclosed that his client would like to quit the team this summer after Napoli finished midtable and missed out on European football the previous season.

“We want to leave Napoli, but everyone is waiting for the 2024 European Championship,” he stated. With Antonio Conte as their new manager, Napoli has huge plans.

“Khvicha is focused on the national team, therefore I haven’t talked to him about this matter. Our objective is to become a member of a Champions League-playing team. The saddest part is that Khvicha will miss a year of school if he stays here. We’re concerned.”

Kvaratskhelia’s father echoed Jugeli’s remarks, stating that he still thought the winger would want to leave Napoli this summer. However, Napoli issued a statement of their own, reiterating that Kvaratskhelia will stay with the team:

It said as follows: “Calcio Napoli confirms that Kvaratskhelia has a three-year deal with the team, contrary to what his father Badri and agent Mamuka Jugeli have stated.

Kvaratskhelia isn’t available for purchase. The Calcio Napoli club makes the final decision about a player under contract with the team—not agents or fathers! Story ends here.

Although Kvaratskhelia has been linked to the Magpies in the past, particularly last summer, a move to St James’ Park is highly unlikely given his desire to remain in the Champions League. Kvaratskhelia would likely cost more than £80 million this summer.
