Aston Villa must raise £58 million or lose PSR points and 30 goals. Bundesliga forward may be crucial

Aston Villa must swiftly find £58 million in player sales to avoid breaking Premier League spending regulations, but a striker being sought by a rival team may decide their destiny.

Villa made significant investments to have a fantastic 2023–24 season and qualify for the Champions League the following year.

Although their risk paid off on the field, they are reckoning the cost in terms of their capacity to abide by the Profit and Sustainability Rules set forth by the Premier League.

With some expenses excluded from the computation, the PSR (formerly known as financial fair play, or PSR) system prohibits teams from losing more than £105 million over a rolling three-year period.

Additionally, the most recent study outlines exactly what Villa must do before the assessment window closes on June 30th in order to avoid a fine or point deduction.

Expert in Finance: For Villa to meet PSR, player sales must total £58 million.

According to a research by well-known football finance blogger Swiss Ramble, Aston Villa has to turn a profit of £58 million from player sales by June 30.

If not, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens’ team could lose points and/or be fined, as shown by the instances of Nottingham Forest and Everton.

But the analyst was quick to point out that this was only a forecast based on best estimates for their broadcast, matchday, and commercial revenue in 2023–2024 rather than a hard number.

Villa may be waiting for Chelsea to make a Serhou Guirassy decision due to the Jhon Duran controversy.

One player sale might wipe out a substantial portion of the £58 million, and Jhon Duran may be the one to leave in order to make up the difference.

The 20-year-old Colombian striker has been strongly linked to a £40 million move to Chelsea, a Premier League team that is also struggling with FFP.

But according to German publication BILD, Chelsea has decided to hold off on making a decision over Duran while also giving VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy some thought.

The 28-year-old was second only to Harry Kane of Bayern Munich with 30 goals in the Bundesliga the previous season.

If Chelsea has to choose between Guirassy and Duran, Villa’s hopes of complying with PSR regulations may depend on how that transfer drama plays out.
