According to sources, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are considering signing Trai Hume.

Football Insider has received information from sources that Aston Villa and Bournemouth are closely monitoring Sunderland defender Trai Hume.

After impressing scouts the previous season, the Premier League pair is keeping an eye on the Northern Ireland international’s circumstances at the Stadium of Light.

To expand their defense alternatives later in the summer, both elite teams are preparing possible moves to sign the 22-year-old.

After winning the ball back for his team 97 times, or 17 more times than Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy, Hume finished the season with the most tackles in the Championship.

The right-back, who can also play center back, signed a new contract last June, and it is valid until 2027.
Trai Hume may sign with Aston Villa after impressing scouts.

Since moving to Sunderland in January 2022 for £150,000 from Northern Irish club Linfield, Hume has played a significant role in the team’s lineup.

The defender participated in every Championship game played during the previous season, starting all but one of those games as his team placed 16th overall.

In his 46 appearances, Hume averaged a Championship-high 3.3 tackles, 1.8 clearances, and 1.4 interceptions per game. He also received 12 yellow cards and one red card.

According to earlier reports, Sunderland is hoping to pay the Northern Irishman over £8 million for his services this summer.

Hume is being courted by Villa and Bournemouth, who are considering giving him a chance to establish himself in the Premier League.

Villa, who finished in fourth position, will participate in the Champions League the following season, while Bournemouth finished in 12th place.

However, Unai Emery’s top priority is offloading players, as Football Insider revealed on June 7 that the massive West Midlands club needs to raise £60 million in player sales this summer.

In other news, Everton is trying to sabotage the Aston Villa agreement.
