King claims James Maddison could quit Tottenham after £60m transfer reveal

Bryan King feels Tottenham might use Eberechi Eze as a replacement for James Maddison.

The former Spurs scout believes Maddison’s time in North London could be coming to an end after just one season.

Spurs insider Paul O Keefe told X on June 14 that Eze is one of the club’s top summer transfer targets.

According to the Daily Mail (7 June), Crystal Palace’s star player has a release clause of at least £60 million.

According to King, it’s unlikely that Tottenham will spend so much money on Eze if Maddison is still around.

“Eze would be an exciting signing, he is a very good player,” stated King.

“But he reminds me a lot of Madison. Does this imply that Maddison’s time at Tottenham may be up?”

“Maddison started well, but he disappointed himself and the club in the second half of the season.

“His attitude went downhill and he seemed to get involved in things on and off the pitch which were unnecessary.”

Could Tottenham replace James Maddison with Eberechi Eze?

Eze has been in phenomenal form for the previous few months.

The Palace player was nominated to Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2024 UEFA European Championship, whereas Maddison did not make the cut.

It’s unclear if Eze is a better option than Maddison, but Spurs fans want both players to stay.

If Daniel Levy can complete the deal for Eze while keeping Maddison, Ange Postecoglou will have some fascinating squad depth heading into next season.
