In a major blow to Swansea City, Cardiff City, and Stoke City, Rangers makes their move.

The Scottish giants appear determined to get a move over the line for the midfielder, who’s also a transfer target for Swansea this summer

According to reports, Rangers are now more interested in Connor Barron, a target for Swansea City.

The midfield player has been watched closely in SA1 since the Swans made an unsuccessful bid on deadline day in January. They had thought that this summer, when Barron’s Aberdeen contract expired, a move may finally be considered.

But with Ibrox’s interest growing, Swansea’s hopes of signing the 21-year-old seem to be dwindling.

As to our colleagues at the Daily Record, the young player, who is considered as one of the most promising prospects in Scottish football right now, has received an improved offer from Rangers.

As well as Swansea, Cardiff City have recently been credited as another club to have made an offer, while there’s also believed to have been approaches from Hellas Verona, Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City.

Barron just got back from vacation, so he’ll probably decide soon. If he decides to leave Scotland, Aberdeen might receive little more than £500,000 in training compensation.

But if he signed with Rangers, the Ibrox team would have to settle on a transfer fee with the Dons or face a tribunal.
Barron’s departure would be Swansea’s first setback of the summer, as the team will need to make major roster changes in the coming weeks.
After speaking with a number of possible candidates, manager Luke Williams claims the team is already moving forward with its recruitment of new players.

He told the BBC, “I can tell you I have had multiple meetings with players on the laptop and I have sat with players in person.”

“We’ve done a great job assembling this information to show the players the lengths to which we, as a club, have gone to identify them.

“That suggests to you that we are attempting to be proactive and competitive in the market.”
