From Italy: Big twist as Douglas Luiz mega-deal is ‘blocked’ – Aston Villa transfer wobbling

This may be good news for Aston Villa supporters.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the proposed transfer of Douglas Luiz to Juventus is currently ‘frozen’.

The Turin club planned to sign the Brazilian while sending Weston McKennie and Samuel Illing-Junior to Aston Villa in exchange for a €20 million fee.

For a time, it has been known that Luiz wants to transfer, therefore his deal with Juventus is not regarded to be an impediment.

However, there was a report in Italy last week that McKennie was in contention with the Serie A team over a pay-off of some form.

Di Marzio now adds that another problem has emerged, and it appears to be more serious.

According to the Italian journalist, the US international and Aston Villa have been unable to agree on personal terms or commissions payable in the sale.

That’s why the entire move is currently stalled. It is not dead, and the parties involved are striving to settle the situation, but it is obviously wobbling right now.
