Transfer target admits through his agent that he is interested in Aston Villa, breaking his quiet.

Aston Villa transfer news and rumors, with Unai Emery being connected to a full-back who plays for Northern Ireland and enjoys tackling during ongoing Uncertainty surrounding Matty Cash

Five teams are reportedly interested in Sunderland’s highly-regarded full-back Trai Hume, including Aston Villa. The Belfast Telegraph reports that Bournemouth and newly promoted Leicester City have joined Villa in the Premier League as clubs interested in the Northern Ireland international. Napoli and Championship Leeds United are also rumored to be keen on the player.

The right-back, who made 46 appearances for the Black Cats the previous season and topped the statistics tables for most tackles made in the Championship, was initially linked to Villa Park in March.

Naturally, Villa is concerned about their first-choice right-back, Matty Cash, who has long been the target of AC Milan’s interest.Furthermore, Hume has mentioned leaving the Stadium of Light in the past. “I think I could play in the Premier League,” Hume stated in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph. You want to push yourself to the limit and maintain a high standard for yourself.

“Although I’m content where I am at Sunderland and truly loving my football, that’s the level I want to reach. I’m happy to play for Sunderland if a move is made, it will happen.

In response to a question on transfer rumors, Hume stated, “I try not to think about it.” I don’t give it much thought until they come to Sunderland and make a financial offer, so I let my agent handle everything.

There is virtually no reason why the club would allow the Northern Ireland ace to depart, since he still has three years left on his contract and was easily one of our greatest players last season.

Hume has demonstrated his versatility as a back-line player by playing for Sunderland this season at both right and left back. Towards the close of the previous season, he also filled in at center half.

Hume was acquired by Sunderland for about £200,000 back in 2022, and the defender may see a boost in value this summer. His current deal with the Black Cats runs through 2027, but the team has the option to extend it by one more year.
