Report: Newcastle United made a bid for one of the two Barcelona stars they had their sights set on.

Newcastle United of the Premier League is reportedly interested in signing Barcelona’s attacker Ferran Torres and defender Andreas Christensen. This information comes from a Mundo Deportivo source.

Newcastle United, a team supported by investors from Saudi Arabia, intends to make a huge splash in the summer transfer window and isn’t afraid to shell out a lot of cash to sign elite players.

Christensen, who briefly played for Chelsea, is reportedly well-liked in the Premier League. England-based reports suggest that Newcastle views Christensen as an important player who can greatly strengthen their defense.

Newcastle has made a proposal.

It’s interesting to note that Newcastle has previously expressed interest in Christensen, who is also attracting interest from the Saudi league. Xavi, the player’s coach at the time, and the player both opposed the move, which is why it did not materialize.

Newcastle also has Torres, a former Manchester City player, on their list of targets. Even though he currently plays in Spain, people still remember his Premier League exploits.

This season, reports indicate that Newcastle has already extended an offer. With the possibility of further €5 million in add-ons, they are willing to pay €15 million up front. When compared to the price Barcelona spent for him, this offer is thought to be rather cheap.

Just half of Barcelona’s initial investment of €55 million and its €10 million in add-ons have been recovered thus far.

Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 and has a contract that runs until 2027.

Newcastle has previously gone fishing in Barcelona.

It’s also important to note that Newcastle United tried to recruit Raphinha, another Barcelona player, earlier in the season.

Rumors circulated that an offer of about €80 million was made. Nevertheless, according to some accounts, they also suggested extra financial compensation in addition to an exchange agreement involving Bruno Guimaraes. This possible transaction did not proceed very far.
