“Leave now.” – Striker linked to Newcastle United for £65 million responds to Magpies transfer

Transfers involving Newcastle United: The Magpies have completed their first summer acquisition, acquiring Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old Lloyd Kelly became Newcastle United’s first summer signing when he announced his transfer from Bournemouth on Thursday. Following his five-year contract agreement with the club, Kelly will rejoin Eddie Howe on Tyneside, the man who signed him for Bournemouth for £13 million back in 2019.

Kelly will give the Magpies more depth and competition for players like Dan Burn, Lewis Hall, and Sven Botman in the upcoming campaign as they attempt to recover from a season in which they were unable to play in Europe. Kelly’s arrival was announced by Newcastle United on social media, where a picture of the defender wearing the home uniform for the upcoming campaign was shared along with the words “Fresh.”

One Newcastle United player who left a remark on the site was Joelinton, who wrote, “Welcome to the family, my friend” alongside black and white hearts. “Let’s go my bro,” wrote Dominic Solanke, who played with Kelly at the Vitality Stadium, in response to the post.

As Andoni Iraola’s team finished in mid-table last season, Solanke was one of the Premier League’s top players, scoring 19 goals, including three in their two games against Newcastle United. Due to his performance last season, Solanke has been strongly linked to leaving the team; Newcastle United is reportedly interested in signing the former Chelsea and Liverpool player.

According to reports, the 26-year-old’s contract contains a £65 million release clause. However, only specific clubs are permitted to activate this provision, and it is presently unknown who those clubs are.
