Newcastle in talks over yet another AC Milan snare as Howe wants star defender as signing No 2

According to reports, Newcastle is planning to recruit Fikayo Tomori as their second defensive acquisition of the summer after reaching out to his agents.

Last season, the Magpies suffered a defensive setback when key players like Sven Botman and keeper Nick Pope were sidelined for extended periods of time due to injuries. As a result, they dropped from fourth position earlier in the season to seventh.

Eddie Howe’s goal this season is to lead Newcastle back to the heights he previously achieved, and staying light in key areas should help him do that.

Newcastle want Tomori

In defence, he’s already signed Bournemouth man Lloyd Kelly, and he’s now on the hunt for another star centre-back. Indeed the Magpies are planning on signing AC Milan man Tomori.

It’s said they have already been in touch with his representatives as part of their plot to snare him.

Their goal in the talks is to ascertain Tomori’s interest in a return to the Premier League. The Englishman played 27 senior games for Chelsea before heading to Milan in search of more game time.

He received that, having now played 142 times for the Serie A giants in four seasons.

Newcastle “makes contact” with Chelsea as they “steal march” beyond Manchester United in the £60 million transfer race for a Premier League winger.
Arsenal, a Newcastle player, is a “appreciate” buy for Man City, and Arteta’s “obsession” has become “realistic.”

Therefore, it’s unclear at this time if the defender would be open to moving to the Premier League to give it another go. He would be the second player from AC Milan to move to Newcastle in the previous two seasons if he does.

In fact, the Magpies made their second-most expensive transfer ever when they acquired midfielder Sandro Tonali from the Serie A team for £55 million.

But before he was barred for betting violations, he only made 12 appearances for his new team. His next scheduled action is in August.

If Newcastle is successful in bringing Tomori in, they will hope that there are no problems with their next Milan acquisition.
