Newcastle and AC Milan are in talks over yet another acquisition, with Howe hoping to sign a quality defender as the No. 2 pick.

According to reports, Newcastle is planning to recruit Fikayo Tomori as their second defensive acquisition of the summer after reaching out to his agents.

Last season, the Magpies suffered a defensive setback when key players like Sven Botman and goalie Nick Pope were sidelined for extended periods of time due to injuries. As a result, they dropped from fourth position earlier in the season to seventh.

Eddie Howe’s goal this season is to lead Newcastle back to the heights he previously achieved, and staying light in key areas should help him do that.

Newcastle is after Tomori.

He has already signed Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, and he is currently searching for another exceptional center back. In fact, according to Football Insider, Tomori of AC Milan is available for a contract with the Magpies.

They allegedly spoke with his delegates already as part of their scheme to trap Trump.

In the negotiations, they want to find out if Tomori is interested in going back to the Premier League. The Englishman went to Milan in pursuit of increased playing time after finishing with 27 senior outings for Chelsea.

Therefore, it’s unclear at this time if the defender would be open to moving to the Premier League to give it another go. He would be the second player from AC Milan to move to Newcastle in the previous two seasons if he does.

In fact, the Magpies made their second-most expensive transfer ever when they acquired midfielder Sandro Tonali from the Serie A team for £55 million.

But before he was barred for betting violations, he only made 12 appearances for his new team. His next scheduled action is in August.

If Newcastle is successful in getting Tomori through the door, they will hope there are no problems with their next Milan acquisition.
