Ex-Doncaster Rovers & Nottingham Forest Man Lands Non-League Move

EFL journeyman Nathan Tyson, now 42 years of age, has landed a move to non-league side Clay Cross Town.

In his long career, the Englishman has participated in over 400 games, and he will likely add more while playing for the Derbyshire-based team.

Who is Nathan Tyson’s New Club?

Tyson has joined Chesterfield’s neighbour Clay Cross Town in advance of their 2024–2025 Northern Counties East Football League Division One season.

The step-six team placed 14th in the league where Parkgate of Rotherham was promoted as the champions the previous year.

He’ll probably be Craig Westcarr’s strike partner at his new club, Clay Cross, an EFL journeyman. Four years Tyson’s junior, the 38-year-old signed with the non-league team early in the off-season. having previously represented teams like Walsall and Portsmouth.

Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Rovers and more:

Tyson is an English Football League player with hundreds of game experience. He made almost 200 appearances for Doncaster Rovers, 140 for Wycombe Wanderers, and more for Nottingham Forest.

He made several appearances for his local club Reading after rising through the ranks there, in addition to a couple loans away from Berkshire.

In 2004, the striker moved on from Reading to play for Wycombe, another EFL team. Following a fruitful initial tenure with the Chairboys, Nottingham Forest selected him.

He signed permanent deals with Derby County, Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers, Scottish team Kilmarnock, Notts County, Chesterfield and Wycombe in addition to a number of loans before moving to non-league football..

Still Going Strong Aged 42 – Opinion:

I have some fond recollections of Nathan Tyson donning our red and white hoops as a Doncaster Rovers supporter. In his day, he was a powerful and captivating striker, and it’s always encouraging to see former players continue to play the game well past both the “expected” retirement age and the football league.
