Football Insider reports that Villa and Emery are prepared to take an offer for Diego Carlos, the center back, during the current transfer window.

Carlos is “another first-team starter who could leave Villa Park this summer to help balance the books despite featuring heavily last season,” along with Luiz and Duran, according to the statement that Villa must raise money to comply with PSR by the end of the month.

Carlos, who earns £100,000 a week in the Midlands, came to the team in 2022 from Sevilla when Steven Gerrard was the manager. Since then, the Brazilian has made 41 appearances for the team, most of which came during the previous season as a result of a difficult 2022–2023 campaign owing to injuries.

Gary Neville praised the 31-year-old last season following Villa’s 2-0 victory against Arsenal in April, calling him a “man mountain” at the back.

He was Villa’s best player during the opening 45 minutes. Diego Carlos has been outstanding. Diego Carlos was fantastic in the opening 45 minutes. He’s been a model student, clean sheet. He was a man mountain in the first part.

Villa has options at center back in addition to Carlos, including Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa, Calum Chambers, and the returning Tyrone Mings. Therefore, if they can raise more money than the £26 million they paid Sevilla two years ago, Villa may consider it to be wise investment. Keep an eye on this one in the weeks leading up to the June 30 PSR deadline.
