Unai Emery wants to sign a 25-year-old player with Arsenal, someone he worked with.

DEWith the way Unai Emery has managed Aston Villa’s play over the last year or so, there is no question that the latter has benefited much from Arsenal’s loss.

A Champions League berth was a more than worthy reward for the Villains’ dominance in the Premier League, even though they somewhat faltered near the conclusion of the 2023–24 season and ultimately failed to cross the finish line in the Europa Conference League.

Getting out of their group would bring them obvious riches and undoubtedly provide them a pleasant playing experience, depending on how the Midlands-based team does in the draw for the major European event the following season.

For instance, Newcastle’s fantastic atmosphere versus Paris Saint-Germain last season was demonstrated beneath the lights.

The players that President of Football Operations Monchi purchases and sells this summer must be excellent if the team is to avoid sinking like the Magpies and discovering that their European endeavors are having a negative impact on home affairs.

Matteo Guendouzi is what Unai Emery wants.

Football Insider claims that French bad boy Matteo Guendouzi is one of the targets.

The 25-year-old was acquired by Emery while the boss was at Arsenal, and as the report notes, he has been on loan from Marseille to Lazio.

It’s obvious he likes something about the aggressive midfield player, and as a result, it’s thought that negotiations to bring him to Villa Park are already underway.

He’s a guy known for having short fuse, so he’ll bring some bite and physicality to the middle of the park. Maybe the manager is looking for that kind of play when the Villains take on the finest players in Europe.

Even though it appears unlikely that a deal would be completed anytime soon, if both sides are eager, there’s always a chance that something could happen once the window opens.
