“He’ll see the project” – Wrexham backed to beat Birmingham City & Oxford in Brighton transfer battle

The North Wales team’s well-known ownership pair, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have contributed to their quick ascent to prominence on and off the pitch.

The Red Dragons made light work of the fourth tier and secured back-to-back promotions after making their first appearance in League Two in fifteen years during the previous year. This was their first trip to the third tier since they were demoted in the 2004–05 campaign.

Many previous Premier League teams are currently based in League One, trying

to reestablish their own routes back to the promised land. But during the upcoming years, Phil Parkinson’s team will make every effort to meet such goals for a team that has never made it to the top flight.

Wrexham have the chance to make a statement by signing Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard

This is due to the fact that ever since the team was promoted back to League One, the public has been aware of the club’s interest in midfielder Marc Leonard of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Wrexham was among the teams interested in signing the Scottish engine room operator, as reported in late May. Renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has since verified that Wrexham is leading the pack for the 22-year-old, along with Oxford United and Birmingham City.

Higher tier clubs’ interest in Leonard is not surprising, considering his form and development at both fourth and third division standards during a highly productive two-year loan at Northampton Town.

Furthermore, Liam Grice, a Football League World analyst based in Wrexham, feels that his team has an opportunity to make a statement if they manage to overcome formidable opposition.

“It’s an intriguing connection with Marc Leonard,” Liam said to FLW.”He’s a younger player who, should he come on loan or permanently, should be in the first team, or at least close to it.

“Obviously, Oxford and Birmingham, two rather large clubs, are our competitors in the race.

Birmingham clearly has a lot of financial clout, so whatever offer they make will be challenging to match.

However, I believe that we have a chance to win the race with our financial support.

“I believe that he will view the Wrexham project and what we’re attempting to accomplish here more positively than negatively.

“I believe it may make a significant impact to demonstrate to the other teams in the league that we’re not just here to pad the stats. Not only do we want to succeed now, but also in the future, we do want to compete.”

Wrexham face stiff competition in battle for Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard

A report from  on May 26th said that the newly-promoted team had indicated interest in the seven-time Scotland Under-21 international, with Leonard potentially available for as little as £300,000.

This happened after teams like Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff City, Preston North End, and the recently demoted Sheffield United and Hull City in the Premier League were also mentioned as possible targets. But a Lancashire Post story later stated that Ryan Lowe’s team was unable to pay the 22-year-old enough to convince him to move to Deepdale.

Then, according to Alan Nixon, Birmingham is eager to sign Leonard as their first summer addition, with former Tottenham and Leicester assistant Chris Davies has now taken over in the Second City.
