Exclusive: Tottenham tempted to bid as club make ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ available for £28m

Tottenham are tempted to make a bid after learning that a transfer target has been made available for £28 million.

Spurs have already signed Heung-min Son for £22 million and Guglielmo Vicario for £17 million, demonstrating their keen sense of value in the transfer market.

Tottenham are interested in signing a striker listed for sale for £28 million.

Tottenham find Tammy Abraham opportunity appealing

TBR Football reports that Roma has made Tammy Abraham available for £28 million this summer.

The England international had a nightmare 2023/24 season due to injuries, making only 12 appearances across all competitions after recovering from a catastrophic cruciate ligament injury.

As Abraham reaches the final 24 months of his contract, Roma has chosen to explore for buyers.

According to TBR Football, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and West Ham are all keeping an eye on the Roma No.9’s position, believing he provides fantastic value at £28 million, just like Spurs.

Tottenham’s top striker target this summer has been Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez. However, after learning of Abraham’s £28 million price tag, Roma No.7 Lorenzo Pellegrini described him as “one of the best strikers in the world”.

Spurs must do their homework

Of course, the opportunity to buy an England international – who is only 26 years old – for £28 million is undoubtedly appealing to Tottenham, but the club must conduct due diligence and investigate why Roma made this decision.

If Abraham experiences recurrences of his catastrophic injury, this deal will be a nightmare for Spurs, regardless of the price.

Ange Postecoglou was unfortunate not to have several of his important players available at crucial points last season, as Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, and Richarlison all missed significant portions of the season.

Despite being a natural central midfielder, Oliver Skipp had to be coached to play on the left side of defence due to injuries last season.

As a result, if Tottenham buy another player who may not always be available, such as Abraham, they may find themselves looking for another striker in 2025.
