Dyche could forget about Broja with Everton swoop for “phenomenal” £40m “goal machine”

This summer, the team has been looking for new attacking players.

Two attackers, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, are expected to dominate the Premier League and play for teams in the top half.

Despite Everton’s strong finish to the season, the duo struggled to maintain the necessary form to avoid relegation in 2023/24.

Despite earning eight points deducted for violating Premier League’s PSR regulations, Sean Dyche’s team finished 14 points clear of the drop. However, they lacked the necessary goals to ensure their safety earlier.

Dyche will need to strengthen his striking department to avoid relegation in 2024/25, as the forward duo only scored 10 league goals together this season.

Everton have been looking for a new frontman since the end of the previous season, with a number of names grabbing the eye in their efforts to address their main issue.

Everton is looking for a new striker this summer.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja for £20 million.

The Albanian forward appeared 21 times in the Premier League for Chelsea and Fulham, scoring once in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Fulham, where he spent the second half of the season on loan.

They will face competition from Wolves and Crystal Palace for his services, although they would be better off buying another striker during the offseason.

According to Graeme Bailey, the Toffees are interested in signing Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer. This would be a significant upgrade over Chelsea’s present striker situation.

Both players have played in the Premier League, but Abraham has been valued at £40 million more than his former teammate. They both came through the Stamford Bridge academy.

Despite his stellar record for the Blues in England’s first tier, the Englishman has also displayed fantastic ability in 2023/24, with the 26-year-old outplaying the Albanian in all areas.

Why Abraham would be a better option than Broja

When comparing the two on FBref for the 2023/24 season, Abraham has clearly produced the higher metrics despite playing fewer minutes due to an ACL injury.

The Englishman, referred to as a “goal machine” by youth coach Stephen Elliott, has scored the same number of goals as the Fulham loanee despite playing 13 less games than his former Chelsea teammate.

This season, he has scored twice as many goals per 90 minutes in Serie A as Broja in the Premier League.

Raj Chohan, named The Premier League Panel’s “phenomenal” talent, has won nearly double the amount of aerial battles compared to Broja, proving his ability to fit into Dyche’s style, which relies heavily on players being able to play as a target man and give an aerial presence.

Abraham has also managed to get 50% of his shots on target this season, compared to the current Chelsea man’s 15% – an extremely low percentage for a top-level forward.

All things considered, both alternatives would surely enhance Dyche’s frontline, but Abraham would be an excellent choice for the Toffees and might fix their present goal-scoring issues.
