As precise numbers become known, Barcelona is “in discussions” to hijack a significant Aston Villa trade.

According to reports, Barcelona is thinking about trying to sabotage Aston Villa’s trade agreement with Juventus by acting as a late hijacker.

With Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Junior expected to go the other way, Douglas Luiz is getting closer to joining Juventus, but Barça might spoil the party in the last stages.

Luiz is currently available for purchase because of Villa’s issues with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines (PSR), thus clubs have never had a better chance to make their moves.As precise numbers become known, Barcelona is “in discussions” to hijack a significant Aston Villa trade.

According to Spanish publication Sport, the Catalan giants have been after Luiz for some time because sporting director Deco believes he would be the ideal replacement for the midfield double pivot. Additionally, it is said that Luiz’s representatives have been “insistently contacting” Barcelona in recent days.

Despite having previously agreed to personal terms with Juventus in a deal worth about €5 million per year for four seasons, the midfielder is very eager to join Barça. But, Barcelona might present a more thrilling football challenge when they play Real Madrid for the La Liga championship.

Barcelona must act quickly.

With Luiz set to transfer to Turin shortly, Barça will need to move quickly if they hope to pull off a dramatic late hijack. Contractual agreements for McKennie and Iling Junior prior to their separate signings to Villa Park are all that are required for the deal to be finalized. Luiz is leaving Villa, as agreed upon, in exchange for the two players and €18 million.
