Unexpected Tammy Abraham transfer as Aston Villa competes for £25 million

the most recent information on Aston Villa’s transfers as the team is rumored to be interested in former loanee Tammy Abraham, who is reportedly free to leave AS Roma.

According to Italian media, Aston Villa is lagging behind West Ham United in its quest to get Tammy Abraham back into the Premier League.

One of the many transfer rumors circulating about Villa is that the Englishman might return to the team where he became a fan favorite while on loan, helping the team push for promotion. Abraham’s current team, AS Roma, is reportedly in need of money to meet financial regulations, and the striker’s productivity has decreased after a season marred by injuries in Serie A.

But La Gazetta dello Sport claims that they are not the only team vying for this contract, and that they are actually in second place.

According to the Italian tabloid, Abraham’s 26-year-old “fate back in the Premier League” means that West Ham is now leading the chase for him.

In 2021, he initially paid £34 million to transfer from Chelsea to the Stadio Olimpico. There were a lot of goals in his first season—27 to be exact—but only nine came back the next year. After suffering a severe cruciate ligament injury in the campaign’s final match, Abraham played in just 12 games and scored one goal the following season.

Roma will reportedly allow him to leave for a hopeful fee of £25.2m, though concede the price could fall as low as £18.5m. They will also allow Romelu Lukaku’s loan from Chelsea to elapse as they ease financial burdens before seeking out alternatives to both in the market.

According to reports, West Ham is interested in the former Chelsea player because they need to replace Michail Antonio, whose contract is set to expire this month, at the London Stadium. Villa, meanwhile, is said to be racing very closely behind as interest is still high since the two teams reportedly came to a £33.7 million deal the year before his injury.

During his year at Villa Park, Abraham scored 26 goals in 40 games, a season he recently acknowledged was among his best to date.
