Ben Godfrey: Several Everton bids were turned down, according sources

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, Ben Godfrey is entering the final year of his contract at Goodison Park after turning down many offers to extend it.

On June 4, Football Insider disclosed that the 26-year-old’s summer transfer targets are AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

The English center back has been the subject of a long-term interest from Italian powerhouse Milan, who first enquired about his availability during the January transfer window.

Godfrey played a major role in Everton’s victorious fight against relegation in the second part of the season, despite the club’s reluctance to let him leave at the time.

After rejecting the latest offers from the Merseysiders to extend his contract past June 2025, the defender’s future is once again in doubt.

Ben Godfrey may depart Everton following a contract modification.

Godfrey arrived at Everton in 2020 after moving from Norwich City in a £25 million deal, but his time there has been severely disrupted by injury.

Despite showing potential in his early days at Goodison, the defender has only made 28 appearances in all competitions over the last two seasons.

He spent most of the first part of the previous season warming the bench, but at the beginning of this one Sean Dyche gave him a chance at right-back, where he went on to play 11 times as Everton avoided relegation.

However, the Englishman’s success with the team hasn’t persuaded him to sign a contract extension, which has raised questions about his future with the team.

Sales are anticipated this summer, despite the Merseyside giants’ desire to keep Godfrey. Last month, Football Insider disclosed that the club must offload at least one of its “big” stars in order to submit their accounts by the end of June.

In other news, following a breakthrough, the defender accepts Everton’s offer.
