As his contract approaches its last year, Son Heung-min acknowledges the “uncomfortable” Tottenham scenario.

In response to suggestions that he would leave Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min said he was “uncomfortable” with the rumors.

Son, 31, is approaching the last year of his four-year contract with the Spurs, with a one-year extension option. However, even if the South Korean forward led the squad in goals scored (17 in 35 games), questions have been raised about the captain of Spurs’ future following the emergence of rumors about an unexpected reunion with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

Now that Mourinho is leading the Turkish powerhouses, they want to go on a major summer spending binge. There have been rumors that the former Tottenham manager is thinking of getting back together with Son. Spurs will undergo a major overhaul this summer following the conclusion of Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

The forward seems to brush off concerns that he would leave the team this summer, though. Son declared, “I have not had any exchanges with the club,” following South Korea’s 1-0 victory over China in a World Cup qualifying match.

“At this point, I have nothing to say. I’m a little uneasy in this circumstance. I will continue to give Tottenham my all. My contract still has certain terms left in it. I don’t think money is significant. To play in a league that I like playing in is the most essential thing. I want to achieve so much more in the Premier League.

Despite a difficult conclusion to the previous season, which saw Tottenham miss out on Champions League football by only two points, Son rose to sixth place among Spurs’ all-time scorers after raising his total to 162 goals in 408 games played for the team.

Son, who joined the team in 2015, enjoyed his joint-second-highest goal total from the previous season with 17 league goals, only surpassed by his incredible 23 league goals from the 2021–22 campaign. Nevertheless, the forward experienced some painful times while managing a season marred by injuries to important members of the team.
