A fresh danger for Millwall and Luton Town in the Japhet Tanganga race

Parma is vying with Millwall and Luton Town for the signing of Japhet Tanganga, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Several Championship teams were alerted when Tottenham announced earlier this month that the defender will depart the team this summer when his contract expires.

Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports earlier this week stated that Millwall, where Tanganga played for the second half of last season on loan, and Luton are among the potential suitors.

Thomas said that Parma appears to have entered the race, and that several Serie A clubs were keeping an eye on the defender.

Di Marzio reports that Parma has discussions with Tanganga’s agency in an attempt to strengthen their roster following their first-ever nine-year comeback to Serie A last season.

The article also mentions that although Parma manager Fabio Pecchia has spoken with Tanganga’s representatives, signing the Tottenham defender is not the team’s top priority at this time.

Tanganga was one of Millwall’s few bright spots during a challenging season, and he left enough of an impact that the Lions will attempt to reach a new deal to get him back to The Den.

as narrowly missing out on the playoffs in the 2022–2023 campaign, Millwall placed 13th in the previous campaign, and their performance only got better as Neil Harris returned to the team.

Neil Harris wants to sign Tanganga this summer

In the upcoming transfer window, Harris will be eager to sign the defender permanently because he helped the Lions keep five clean sheets and contributed offensively by scoring twice.

“Japhet Tanganga is adored by the entire football team,” Harris stated to London News Online last week.

“I believe I have stated in earlier pieces how much I would want to collaborate with him. This transfer window will see a lot of demand for the player Japhet.

“As a football team, there are instances when the process we go through involves individuals, agencies, and football clubs, and we can only go so far.

After the disappointing campaign at Milwall, Tanganga required a much-needed confidence boost.

Considering that he earned his senior debut in the 2019–20 season and rose through the Spurs youth ranks, his departure from the team is somewhat unexpected.

Although he displayed signs of promise, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte were the four permanent coaches he played for, which did not help him stay on the bench.

Although Luton are considered to be among the promotion hopefuls, the 25-year-old’s experience with Millwall and the fact he wouldn’t have to leave London tip the scales in the Lions’ favour.

In a similar vein, moving to Kenilworth would enable him to stay in his hometown of London.
