Sunderland Women: Emily Scarr extends contract until 2026

The two-time Women’s Player of the Year winner for Sunderland Women, Emily Scarr, has signed a new deal with the team that will keep her there until the summer of 2026.

Scarr arrived to Wearside for the first time in 2020, and since then, he has been playing excellently, finishing the previous season with seven goals in ten league games.

The forward, 24, exclaimed, “I’m overjoyed.

“I firmly believe that here is the location where I can advance and grow as a player.

“I’ve loved it here, I love my teammates and the coaches, so I’m really glad I’ve signed.”Head coach Mel Reay was pleased with her performance, which included significant contributions to Sunderland’s victory.

She emphasized Scarr’s important goals, especially in the closing stages of the season, and her noteworthy contribution to the team’s promotion push last season.

Reay added: “I’m delighted she sees her future here with us and I hope we can push on together next season.”

Following a championship match that went to the penultimate game of the season, Sunderland placed third in the Women’s Championship the previous year.

Next season, the Black Cats will have company in the league thanks to promotions to the division and avoidance of relegation by local rivals Durham and Newcastle United.
