Noel Gallagher slams Everton figures in Manchester City takeover admission

Noel Gallagher, who likened the mayhem at Goodison Park to Manchester City prior to their historic 2008 takeover, has taken aim at the Everton management.

Lifelong Man City fan Gallagher said in an interview with The Athletic [June 11] how he shows his son how City used to run when the team was owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group 16 years ago, winning over 20 titles in the process. Gallagher cites Everton as an example to his son.

The headlines of Daniel Taylor’s piece set the tone for Gallagher’s unreserved criticism of other Premier League teams. The superstar criticises Farhad Moshiri and Everton in spite of the 115 financial accusations hanging over the Etihad Stadium.

Gallagher said, “I think the perfect analogy is: ‘If you want to know what it used to be like, look at Everton.'” He was explaining it to his youngest son, Sonny.

“City would have experienced takeover after takeover, failure, and broken promises if Sheikh Mansour hadn’t purchased the team.

“There but for the grace of God go us,” is how I feel when I see Everton at the bottom of the table with deductions in points. Because we might have been even worse off in that situation.

Everton is still looking for the perfect buyer.

Moshiri, the primary owner of the Toffees, is receiving various bids to take over Everton; therefore, he needs to quickly choose the best option.

Options to consider include Roma owner Dan Friedkin and supporters Andy Bell and George Downing, after 777 Partners failed to acquire Moshiri’s 94.1 percent share in the team during a ridiculous eight months of the Premier League’s enforced standoff.

Bell and Downing already have a professional relationship with Moshiri, which may come in handy, and they also have faith that the Premier League will accept their offer.

John Textor, the owner of Olympique Lyonnais, a US-based sports team, told Goodison News that he has never been in the lead in the process and that he still owns 45% of Crystal Palace.

Moshiri is under pressure to decide quickly so that obstacles may be overcome.
