Monchi is prepared to bring in Serie A full-back Matty Cash, the star of Aston Villa.

Aston Villa wants to replace Cash without having to make any real financial investments.

This summer, Aston Villa hopes to replace Matty Cash with a player who will likely wind up in the same location as the Poland international—all for the purpose of spending zero dollars.

Rumors of an Aston Villa transfer.

Aston Villa, who recently finished in fourth place in the Premier League, is preparing for Champions League action in the upcoming season. With Villarreal reaching the Champions League semifinals and winning many Europa Leagues, manager Unai Emery has a wealth of European experience. Though most of his Villa team is inexperienced in Europe, they will probably want some assistance in managing playing league and European games at the top level.

As they attempt to do well in the Champions League, new players are anticipated to arrive at Villa Park during the summer. Conor Gallagher, a player for Chelsea, has been identified as a target for Villa; it is thought that the team has already started initial talks with the Englishman.

In other news, Villa has indicated interest in making a move for Fulham star Andreas Pereira, while Giovani Lo Celso, who worked under Emery during the second half of the 2021–2022 season when he joined Villarreal on loan from Tottenham, is reportedly of interest to his former coach.

Additionally, there were rumors last week that Matty Cash would be leaving due to connections to Chelsea full-back Reece James. And now there’s a new development about Villa’s right-back position.

Monchi ready to “go all in” to replace Aston Villa star

Recent reports from Italy stated that Aston Villa are “happy” to sell Matty Cash this summer, amid discussions with AC Milan. Now, Italian outlet Calciomercato [via Sport Witness] have shed further light on Cash’s future and who the Villians may replace him with if he leaves.

According to the report, Aston Villa director Monchi and AC Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada met to discuss Cash’s possible transfer. The Midlands club is reportedly willing to part ways with the Poland international for a fee of approximately £17 million. Villa is simultaneously considering other Milan players to take Cash’s spot, with Denzel Dumfries of Inter being the top contender to succeed the 26-year-old.

Inter is reportedly seeking a cost of £17 million for the Dutch full-back. If Cash is truly sold to AC Milan, Aston Villa will essentially receive no compensation for Dumfries, and Monchi is prepared to “go all in” for the Dutchman.

Dumfries is two years Cash’s senior, at 28, but unlike the Villa player, he has played in Europe’s top leagues. He began the 2022–2023 Champions League final, in which Manchester City defeated Inter, and has made 29 more appearances in the competition; Villa would probably find it to be helpful going into the 2024–2025 season. On paper at least, Dumfries’ 2023–24 league season was superior to the Aston Villa player’s.
