Jhon Duran of Aston Villa is being pursued by Chelsea.

Following Benjamin Sesko’s removal from consideration after agreeing to a new contract with RB Leipzig, Duran became a target for Chelsea.

Jhon Duran, a striker for Aston Villa, has drawn the attention of Chelsea once more and is now closer to the top of the team’s desired list.

Chelsea had Duran on their list of striker targets for this summer after considering him during the January transfer window.

Duran’s chances of getting a transfer to Stamford Bridge have increased as Benjamin Sesko was removed off the shortlist after reaching an agreement to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.

Chelsea has at least two other attackers on their summer want list, but Duran is attainable and the team has a solid rapport with Villa, who are interested in signing Conor Gallagher, a midfield player.

Chelsea’s options have been limited by Sesko’s decision to stay at Leipzig. One such option is former academy graduate Dominic Solanke, whose contract with Bournemouth reportedly contains a £65 million release clause.

Duran expressed his desire to move to Stamford Bridge by liking numerous Chelsea-related messages on his X account. Duran expressed his desire to join Chelsea in January.

In order to spend money this summer and adhere to profit and sustainability regulations, Villa must sell players.

playing the second fiddle

In January 2023, Duran signed a £18 million contract with Villa. The 20-year-old scored eight goals the previous season, two of which came from the bench in the tie with Liverpool, which was sufficient to secure Champions League qualifying.

Although Duran, a Colombian international, is considered one of the best promising prospects in his position, Ollie Watkins is clearly superior to him at Villa Park.

Before Mauricio Pochettino left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent and was replaced by Enzo Maresca, Jonathan Herrera, Duran’s agent, mentioned Chelsea’s interest in his client.

Herrera stated last month that “the interest has always been there.” “The club is ultimately the one who wants Pochettino, so it shouldn’t matter if he stays or leaves.”

“There has always been interest in him, but we’ll see what happens whether they keep him as their coach or not. As we ensure that Aston Villa is prepared, let’s see how we can manage it.

Battle royale for Gallagher

Villa will consider bids for Duran, and transferring him to Chelsea would increase their chances of attempting to sign Gallagher, who is among the several players who might depart Stamford Bridge this summer and is also a target for Tottenham.

Premier League teams are now showing interest in Borussia Dortmund’s left-back Ian Maatsen, as the latter is currently hesitant to pay Chelsea’s £35 million asking price.

Romelu Lukaku is being sold by Chelsea, and they are considering offers for Armando Broja. Cesare Casadei, another player who was out on loan for a portion of the last campaign, has drawn interest from abroad and may be permitted to depart.

Even if Gallagher departs, Casadei, a midfielder, has Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Romeo Lavia ahead of him at Chelsea. Casadei played on loan for Maresca at Leicester City last season. Additionally, Andrey Santos might be included in the starting lineup.

Chelsea is anticipated to sign a new left-back this summer in addition to continuing to be interested in Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, a winger for the team.
