Spurs and Liverpool might not be allowed to sign 24-year-old Fabrizio Romano, for the following reasons:

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta may not be willing to let Ederson, a reported target for Tottenham, to depart this summer because they already anticipate losing another important player.

Ederson has been identified by a number of publications in recent months as one of Tottenham’s best defensive midfield alternatives in advance of the summer transfer season.

This includes a report from The Daily Mirror on May 23, which stated last week that Spurs’ efforts to sign the 24-year-old have become increasingly difficult following Atalanta’s Europa League victory.

It was clarified that the Serie A team would benefit monetarily from their Champions League qualification, therefore they are less inclined to liquidate their primary assets.

TuttoJuve reported a few weeks ago that Atalanta had informed Tottenham and the other teams that were considering the midfield player that his price would be at least €40 million (£34 million).

According to the source, Liverpool is rumored to have made an initial approach for the player (Jorge Nicola), while Juventus and Newcastle United had also expressed interest in a deal for the Brazilian.

Ederson might be difficult for Tottenham to sign this summer.

Romano has subsequently refuted those allegations, stating that Atalanta has not received any approaches and that the team would not like to leave Ederson given that Teun Koopmeiners is already anticipated to depart this summer.

“We heard reports of a bid from Liverpool for Ederson, but what I’m hearing at the moment is that Atalanta have not received anything official,” the journalist said to CaughtOffside. Although they are aware that there is interest, they firmly believe that the player should stay with the team.

Why? Because Juventus is the front-runner for the Dutch midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners, Atalanta may decide to sell him. With Koopmeiners, they have already made progress on a personal level, and Atlanta’s plan is to sell just one player.

Over the past two weeks, there seems to have been less talk about Ederson perhaps moving to Tottenham. That may indicate that the North London club is looking at other options since they are losing hope that a deal will be reached.
