Tottenham are apparently planning to release Tanguy Ndombele from his contract a year early.
In 2019, the France midfielder signed from Lyon for a club record £55 million.
However, the 27-year-old has made only 91 appearances in five years and has not played for the club since January 2022.
Spurs were 1-0 down against Morecambe in the FA Cup third round at the time, and the substitute took too long to leave the pitch.
This irritated supporters, who booed their player for his antics before his team scored three goals in 14 minutes to defeat the minnows.
Ndombele has had loan spells with former clubs Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray.
He has also won league crowns in the last two seasons, albeit primarily as a substitute, and has competed in the Champions League.
According to rumours in France, Ndombele will not be granted a chance at atonement in north London.
It is believed that Harry and Tottenham have reached an acceptable agreement to cease his massive £200,000-per-week salary, which could be disclosed soon.
Spurs fans will be disappointed with the player’s departure given the amount of skill he possesses but has been unable to develop.
Ndombele made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa and later scored a crucial goal against Manchester United. He also provided eight assists.
Tottenham managers were likewise frustrated by the player.
Jose Mourinho once stated about Tanguy: “You always expect more from Tanguy because he is so talented.”
“More because the talent is incredible. You know, in terms of talent, midfield creativity, and vision, I believe he is second to none in European football right now.
“But there is always the sense that he has something more to offer. He never reaches the limit of his labour, sacrifice, or ambition.
“So he’s the person I admire as a player but who annoys me a little because I believe he can be much better than he is.
“When I see that France and Tanguy are not playing, I do not blame Didier [Deschamps]. I blame Tanguy since he outperforms the others.
“He should show that every day in training and in every match.”
Spurs recently released Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, and Japhet Tanganga.
