Steven Gerrard, a star projected for £50 million, is now available for free transfer to Aston Villa.

The midfielder was considered by Steven Gerrard to join Aston Villa during the 2022 summer transfer window.

Aston Villa has the option to sign free agents like Wilfred Ndidi to bolster their roster in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Villa has qualified for the highest table of European football, thus they will be competing on four fronts again the next season. To make sure Villla’s Champions League campaign doesn’t negatively impact their Premier League performance, Unai Emery will need a more robust team.

They have to strengthen their team while adhering to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). According to reports, Villa must comply by making up the difference by disposing some assets before June 30.

Ndidi’s contract at Leicester City is set to expire at the end of this month, making him an inexpensive alternative to strengthen Villa’s midfield. The Nigerian and Leicester are negotiating a new contract, although the 27-year-old is free to leave the Foxes at any time.

In the Championship the previous season, Ndidi found new life in a more advanced midfield role. At the first attempt, he led Leicester to promotion back to the Premier League with four goals and five assists.

When Steven Gerrard managed Villa in 2022, he was a target for the team. Villa was reportedly considering making a £50 million approach to buy Ndidi that summer, according to reports at the time.

Before Yves Bissouma joined Tottenham Hotspur, Villa desired Nididi as a replacement for him. Instead, Gerrard pursued Boubacar Kamara, signing the Frenchman from Marseille on a free transfer.
