“One of the best strikers in the world” has a release clause that Arsenal is unwilling to meet.

The Gunners have improved greatly under Arteta’s leadership since 2019, but they have sadly failed to win the Premier League title for the second consecutive season. It can be argued that having an established No. 9 would have changed the outcome of the title race. As a result, Arsenal is expected to have a busy summer on the transfer front as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to add finishing touches to their squad. The player in question is Victor Osimhen, who has been a sensation at Napoli over the past few years and is considered to be among the top five strikers in the world.

Arsenal is hesitant due of Victor Osimhen’s high cost.

Since his rumoured £70 million transfer from Lille back in 2020, Osimhen has been a revelation for Napoli.

Although the 25-year-old signed a new contract with Napoli this season with a rumoured £113 million release clause, rumours have continued to circulate.

As Joao Cancelo stated to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Il Napolista, earlier this year, Osimhen has amply demonstrated why he is “one of the best strikers in the world.”

Similar to what Mina Razouki, an Italian football journalist, said to BBC Sport last year, Osimhen “has got to be one of the top five strikers in the world.”

You can see why Arsenal is reluctant to transact at such a high valuation, though.
