Enzo Maresca, a former Chelsea player, is urged to return to the club Kings of London.

After Enzo Maresca was named the club’s new manager, former Chelsea star Joe Cole urged the Italian to make the squad once again the best in London.

Chelsea formally announced Maresca’s appointment at the beginning of the week. The 44-year-old has signed a five-year contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca will be under pressure to bring trophy cases to Stamford Bridge and lead Chelsea back into the Champions League after leading Leicester City to the Championship title the previous season.

Joe Cole urges Maresca to establish Chelsea as the London Kings.

Under Mauricio Pochettino’s leadership, the Blues outperformed their disappointing 12th place result from the 2022–2023 campaign, finishing in the top six, the Carabao Cup final, and the FA Cup semi-final last season.

The team isn’t even the best in London right now, and they are still a long way from contending with Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League championship.

Former Blue Cole has urged Maresca to restore the club’s status as the Kings of London, given that Chelsea is currently trailing Arsenal and finished behind Tottenham for the second straight year.

“I think it’s important that Chelsea regains control of London after finishing the season so well,” he said to Mirror Football.

We have some of the greatest teams in the world, and Tottenham and Arsenal have made tremendous progress. This is a gorgeous city for football.

“The first thing Chelsea needs to do is that, as they haven’t been at the top of that pile in a very long time.”

Maresca succeeds Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Pochettino as Chelsea’s fourth permanent manager under the new ownership.
