As Brighton and Hove Albion attempt to move behind Roberto De Zerbi’s departure, another summer of change is in store.

After several high-profile exits in recent seasons, the Seagulls have earned a reputation as one of the best organised teams in the Premier League, and this perception has grown with each passing year. To try to move on from a challenging season, they will need to ward off more interest in their brilliant group during the summer transfer window before any new acquisitions can be achieved.

But before any transfer activity can begin, it is imperative that a replacement for the outstanding De Zerbi be found. In order to find out who would be appointed and what tasks the new manager would have during his first summer in command at the Amex Stadium, we at 3AddedMinutes fired up Football Manager 2024.

So now it’s your turn…Rodgers, Brendan.

Goalkeepers

With Bart Verbruggen quickly established as Rodgers’ number one goalkeeper following his appointment, Jason Steele was allowed to leave the club after the Seagulls accepted a £2.5m offer from Italian club Fiorentina. With a need for competition and backup, Rodgers completed a £5m move for Real Mallorca’s Serbian stopper Predrag Rajkovic.

Goalkeepers

After Rodgers appointed Bart Verbruggen as his starting custodian, the Seagulls accepted a £2.5 million offer from Italian team Fiorentina, allowing Jason Steele to depart the team. In search of competition and insurance, Rodgers secured a £5 million transfer for Serbian stopper Predrag Rajkovic of Real Mallorca.

Two defensive exits occurred, both on the right side of the back four: Tariq Lamptey stayed in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers when the Molineux club accepted a £14 million offer, while Joel Veltman moved to Nantes in a steal of a £1 million deal. There were three new players signed: Ilario Monterisi, a centre-back for Frosinone, was signed for £28 million, while Spurs defender Emerson Royal completed a £5 million move to the Amex Stadium. Juan Miranda, a left-back for Real Betis who departed the La Liga team on a free transfer, was also taken by Brighton.

Jan Paul van Hecke, Lewis Dunk, Igor, Emerson Royal, Juan Miranda, Pervis Estupinan, Ilario Monterisi, Adam Webster, and Valentin Barco are among Rodgers’ defensive possibilities.

Midfielders

Now were are talking. There were two eye-catching deals here as Brighton handed over a combined £38.5m to secure the signings of PSG midfielder Renato Sanches and Spurs star Rodrigo Bentancur. That allowed Jack Hinshelwood to join Premier League new boys Ipswich Town on loan and Mohamed Dahoud’s underwhelming stay at the club ended with a £2m move to Spanish club Las Palmas.

Rodgers’ midfield options: Pascal Gross, Billy Gilmour, Renato Sanches, Rodrigo Bentancur, Carlos Balaba.

Forwards

There were no departures at the top end of the pitch as Rodgers managed to fend off interest in the likes of Joao Pedro, Evan Ferguson, Simon Adingra and Karou Mitoma. That meant incomings in forward positions were limited to just one new face as Lazio striker Taty Castellanos was brought in for a £10m fee.

Rodgers’ attacking options: Solly March, Karou Mitoma, Simon Adingra, Facundo Buonanotte, Julio Enciso, Joao Pedro, Evan Ferguson, Taty Castellanos, Danny Welbeck.
