To rejoin £27 million midfielder, Unai Emery plans to make his first summer transfer.

According to reports, Unai Emery is interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur this summer in order to rejoin his former player at Aston Villa.

With the window set to open in precisely one week, Villa is considering their summertime market plan. They may be among the teams that take action to comply with the Profitability & Sustainability Rules, often known as Financial Fair Play (FFP), by the end of the month.

It would be intriguing to see how far the club is ready to go in order to strengthen before making their Champions League debut in the 2019 campaign if that issue is resolved. Various midfield choices have surfaced as hints about Emery’s plans to bolster his team, and The Sun claims he will look to a well-known player in Lo Celso.

When Emery was in the French capital, he signed the Argentine for £8.5 million at the age of 20, thus bringing him to Europe. They would get the chance to get back together for a few months six years later thanks to a loan agreement arranged with Spurs.

The Spaniard remarked, “I know Giovani as a player because I had him at PSG,” during their first meeting. He was excellent at Betis, which aided in his transfer to Tottenham. We decided to bring him in when the opportunity arose because of his versatility as a player. Together, we’ll strive to improve.

During that second season together, they made it to the Champions League semifinals before Emery left for Villa and Lo Celso remained in La Liga for the balance of his 18-month loan.

Under new manager Ange Postecoglou, he moved back to North London for fresh starts in the 2023–2024 season. Despite this, he made 22 Premier League appearances, just four of which were in the starting 11. They claim that because he still has one year left on his contract, he is looking for a way out.

Emery’s adamant desire to collaborate with the Copa America winner once more will be crucial to Villa’s success in this transaction.
