Nottingham Forest land £15m as mass exodus begins – sources

Nottingham Forest released eighteen players this week, which resulted in a £15 million pay decrease.

On Wednesday, June 5, the team verified its retained list on their website, revealing that eighteen players have left the City Ground this summer.

Six first-team players have left the team: Scott McKenna, Felipe, Loic Mbe Soh, Wayne Hennessey, Harry Arter, and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Divock Origi, Gonzalo Montiel, Gio Reyna, Rodrigo Ribeiro, and Nuno Tavares are the other five loan talents who have returned to their parent clubs.

It’s believed that Origi was among the highest paid players at the team; during his loan period, the Belgian striker brought in about £110,000 a week.

Nottingham Forest’s £15 million decrease can allay PSR concerns.

Before he retired, Felipe made almost £70,000 a week, compared to roughly £40,000 for Gio Reyna and Harry Arter.

With their summer departures, Forest has reduced its pay expenditure by about £15 million overall.

The club’s budget will see a major increase as a result of the salary bill reduction under the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The 2023–24 season saw Forest docked four points for exceeding their permitted losses by £34.5 million.

Although they should be nearing their PSR cap once more in the upcoming season, salary reductions will provide the team more financial wiggle room.
