Man Utd star writes social media post he ‘hoped he’d never have to make’ about club

Manchester United star Brendon Williams has written an emotional goodbye to the club after being released after 17 years at Old Trafford.

Williams has been with United since he was nine years old, but the four-year contract he signed in 2020 will come to an end, ending his time with the Manchester team. After making his first team debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019, the full-back played 51 games for the Red Devils and scored one Premier League goal.

The 23-year-old made 17 appearances while playing on loan at Suffolk Town previous season, tallying two goals. Williams, though, will now be searching for a new team after United announced his departure and thanked the young player in a sophisticated statement.

The statement said: “Brandon Williams is to leave Manchester United at the end of the contract, with best wishes from everybody at the club.” “Brandon will always be welcome back at the club, through our Academy’s successful Alumni programme, and we would like to wish him the very best of luck for the future,” the club said as it concluded the release, wishing the young Mancunian all the best.

Williams has never hidden his passion for United and has now shown it in a heartfelt Instagram post, complimenting United officials and staff and expressing his continued love and appreciation for the team. Having played on loan for Norwich City during the 2021–2022 season, the youthful defender expressed, “I always hoped I would have never had to make this post but here we are.” This Manchester United football team has been a daily part of my life from the cliff to Carrington since I was seven years old.”

Williams reserved a special shoutout to his “brothers” at the club as he added: “But to have been able to make brothers which will last a lifetime I want to thank my teammates, especially the ones I’ve shared the past 17 years with.” The post included a compilation of Williams’ time at United and was soundtracked to the Adele song “Hometown Glory.”

“Thank you to the staff the kitmen, maintenance workers, security, and physios I could go on and on you were all amazing and of course the coaches.”

Williams concluded by expressing his sincere gratitude to the United supporters, declaring that he will always be a fan, and perhaps implying that an announcement on his future plans might be made soon: The club’s foundation and the reason we strive so hard to be able to perform at the best level are you, the fans, and most importantly, THANK YOU. You all deserve it. Keep an eye on this area! ABOVE ALL, A RED IS ALWAYS A RED.

Following the release of their official retained players list, Manchester United confirmed the departures of many players in addition to Williams. The team has disclosed that Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial, who have reached the end of their contracts, would be departing.

After nine years at United, Martial is leaving the team with 317 appearances and 90 goals, and fellow Frenchman Varane is also leaving after three seasons in Manchester. Omari Forson has officially received a new contract offer, although the club has stated that talks about possible new contracts with Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are still ongoing.

Charlie McNeil will depart United to “seek new opportunities elsewhere,” the club has recently revealed. Tom Huddlestone, who is also the Under-21 player-coach, is leaving the club, as are Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley.
