Ready to offer £13 million to acquire a midfield player on the cheap

Aston Villa are already enjoying a busy summer before the transfer window has even officially opened, and now more midfield reinforcements could be on their way.

Douglas Luiz wants to leave Aston Villa?

The Villans and NSWE are eager to add talent to their squad in order to guarantee that their only movement going forwards rather than backwards the following season, after earning Champions League football for the first time in their history thanks to a fourth-place Premier League result.

Arguably their most significant agreement to date has already been reached: they have signed manager Unai Emery to a new contract that will keep him in charge until 2029. The Spaniard has overseen a significant transformation at Villa Park.

They are now focusing on topics related to the pitch. In order to achieve this, they have started to bolster their midfield, and Ross Barkley, a former Villa loanee, is expected to join them shortly in a £5 million transfer from relegated Luton Town.

They were shocked to learn, though, that Douglas Luiz, who still has two years left on his Aston Villa contract and is coming off of his greatest season yet, had requested to leave the team this summer. The news came from Italy.

Appearances 35
Goals 9
Assists 5
Shots on target per 90 0.39
Key passes per 90 1.59

His sale would undoubtedly be advantageous for financial fair play purposes, as he is reputedly valued at about 60 million euros (£51 million). In light of Conor Gallagher’s connections, Aston Villa may be able to spend heavily on the remainder of their squad this summer. It seems that Monchi is currently searching for a new midfield player.

This is in the form of Weston McKennie, a player for Juventus who has been mentioned as a possible trade partner for Luiz in Italy.

Nevertheless, it seems that Villa would also be eager to pay cash for the 25-year-old, who gained experience in the Premier League after a trying loan stint at Leeds United that resulted in their relegation.
