£128m takeover news from Germany in last 24 hours could trigger Everton buyout

A German takeover update might set off a series of events that ultimately result in Farhad Moshiri’s departure from Everton.

For more than a year, the British-Iranian millionaire has been attempting to sell his 94% share in the Toffees.

He has been obliged to alter his plans and hunt for a new buyer due to the most recent events involving 777 Partners.

The Premier League declined to approve the whole takeover agreement after the Miami-based investment firm failed to demonstrate that they could continue to provide funding for the team.

Moshiri is currently focusing on investigating more plausible alternatives.

It seems that John Textor, co-owner of Crystal Palace, and another US investment group have a sincere interest in MSP Sports Capital.

Furthermore, recent events in the sports investment space would suggest that a deal is getting closer.

The Augsburg sale of David Blitzer might make room for Everton to take over.

John Textor want to sell his Crystal Palace holdings and put the money back into Everton.

Fourty-five percent of Palace is owned by Textor, a 58-year-old billionaire who built his name in digital media and currently owns shares in six football teams.

The two other US investors having equity in multiple clubs, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, together with club chairman Steve Parish, shared the majority of the remaining shares.

Augsburg, a squad in the Bundesliga, is one of the teams that Blitzer represents.

Furthermore, Blitzer is now attempting to sell his forty-five percent share in the German club, which is valued at approximately £128 million, according to Bloomberg.

Although Blitzer seems to be leaving Augsburg for strategic reasons, it’s also possible that he’s raising money to buy more shares from Textor to increase his ownership of Palace.

That would expedite Textor’s departure from Palace and his eventual acquisition of Everton.

Deal with John Textor Everton: MSP connection may be important

Notably, Blitzer and MSP Sports Capital have strong commercial ties.

Their company, Bolt Football Holdings, has a partnership with MSP. Additionally, Bolt Football Holdings’ board members include Jeff Moorad, CEO of MSP, and chairman Jahm Najafi.

As part of a £160 million loan to the team, MSP has the opportunity to acquire a majority share in Everton.

It is improbable that the New York-based corporation would wish to commit to a full takeover of Everton in the long run, given that they typically play the role of silent partner with their football investments.

They might, however, agree to take over the team while Textor sets up Blitzer’s purchase of his Palace sales so that Blitzer can eventually become the sole owner of Everton.

Though it’s a complicated web, it seems like Textor is about to take over as Everton’s new owner.
