The Everton midfielder looks likely to exit this summer and he holds admirers across Europe.
According to sources in Germany, Bayern Munich is interested in signing Everton’s Amadou Onana this summer.
Everton are expected to have to sell one of their important assets, such as Onana, this summer to raise finances, and with interest from some of Europe’s greatest teams, it appears that a transaction is becoming more possible. Furthermore, he is scheduled to start for Belgium at the European Championships in Germany, which will allow him to put himself in the shop window, as they say, and maybe cement a deal.
According to BILD’s chief football correspondent Christian Falk, Bayern have identified a variety of targets in various positions, including Xavi Simons, Jonathan Tah, Frenkie de Jong, Chris Führich, Joao Palhinha, and Amadou Onana, as revealed on X. According to some sources, Onana is valued at over £50 million, and Bayern have been interested in him for some time due to his age, profile, and defensive position.
The German club was on the verge of signing Palhinha last summer, and the 28-year-old might be a target in the near future given his current form. Furthermore, he will be a star for Portugal in Germany, which may result in increased interest in him. However, Onana could potentially meet the bill, as he had the best defensive duel rate success in Europe last season.
He also recently met with the Belgian media to define his career aspirations, declaring he is ready for the next level. He explained, “That happens practically automatically. In prior competitions, players who performed well moved up to the elite clubs. That’s what I strive for. I feel like introducing myself to the European elite and demonstrating what I have to offer. “This European Championship is a stage.”
He also stated that he is prepared to make a major impact for his country on the big stage. He continued, “I’m always prepared for these huge competitions. These are the matches that every footballer aspires to play. There are players that have played 50 games this season and have also competed in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. With Everton, there was no European football. That may be a small advantage for me.”
