Verbal agreement as Villa gets closer to a possible £5 million transfer

Verbal agreement touted as Villa close in on potential £5m move

According to reports, Ross Barkley and Aston Villa have verbally agreed to a deal valued at approximately £5 million for Barkley’s signing.

With 37 appearances in all competitions, Barkley, 30, had a fantastic season with the Hatters last year, tallying five goals and dishing out six assists.

He demonstrated his talent and expertise to emerge as one of their more reliable and top performers throughout the campaign, even if he was unable to save them from falling back to the Championship.

There have been rumors that Villa will make a move for our former loanee this summer, and nowFabrizio Romano is reporting that we have verbally agreed to sign Barkley with Luton for a fee estimated to be about £5 million.

He continues, “There appears to have been a significant breakthrough between the two clubs as talks have resulted in an agreement.” The legalities of the move, such as a medical examination and personal terms agreement, are still pending and will probably be finalized in early July.

In order to bolster our team and make sure we’re better prepared to handle another demanding season next year as we continue to compete on numerous fronts, should the trade go through as proposed, it appears to be another wise move from Villa and Emery.

There is a lot of faith in their judgment and decision-making regarding this highly anticipated move to strengthen our midfield options. Barkley’s experience, technical skill, and all-around game will have been carefully examined and evaluated to analyze if he’s a good fit for our team and the style and structure that Emery is building.

Barkley will hopefully be one of many important additions this summer as we look to bolster the squad to not only further establish our Premier League top-four credentials but also to compete with the best clubs in Europe in the Champions League. Barkley’s previous loan stint with us should help him adjust and settle in quickly if he does indeed complete a move to return to Villa in the coming weeks.
