Report: £70m-rated Aston Villa player has decided he wants to leave; club already working on replacements

Although Aston Villa qualified for the Champions League last season, one of its key players appears to have decided to leave.

Villa had a fantastic season under Unai Emery, defeating Tottenham and Chelsea to secure the final Champions League position.

With a busy summer ahead, Villa and Emery hope to add high-quality players to an already talented group.

However, while additions are the main focus, some players may go.

And, sadly for Villa, one of their most significant players is believed to have decided to leave.

Douglas Luiz decides to leave Aston Villa amid Juventus interest

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Villa midfielder Luiz has opted to leave this summer to pursue a new challenge.

Juventus have made it known that they want to sign the Brazilian if he is available.

Luiz was a vital player for Villa throughout the season and has previously been linked with moves to Arsenal.

However, a move to Juventus definitely appeals, and it appears that he will attempt to make it happen.

Villa, meantime, are looking for successors, and according to the same story, Monchi is already in Italy looking into potential possibilities.

The names Weston McKennie and Matias Soule are discussed.

Douglas Luiz loss a real blow for Unai Emery

This would be a tremendous disappointment for Aston Villa and Unai Emery if Douglas Luiz did wish to leave.

It’s also an odd one. Given Luiz’s performance and Villa’s Champions League qualification, it seems surprising that he is suddenly attempting to force a trade.

Of course, Villa will do what is right for them and look for the best possible price.

In 2023, Villa reportedly sought at least £70 million to sell Luiz.

Whether Juventus will pay that amount remains to be seen. But it is what Villa should stick to, and given their current status in Europe, they may charge such amounts.
