Rangers announce second deal of the summer as 46-cap veteran signs

Rangers announce second deal of the summer as 46-cap veteran signs.

Rangers rebuild has already begun with Philippe Clement deciding who he wants to stick around for next season.

Six senior players were out of contract at the end of the campaign and it is a lot of experience that has emptied their lockers at Auchenhowie.

At one point, it looked like none of the players would be offered new terms, however, Rangers have announced that Leon Balogun is going to be part of Philippe Clement’s revolution next season.

Leon Balogun rewarded with new Rangers contract

The large Nigerian is well-liked by the fans, and despite the loss, the 35-year-old continued to express his affection for the team following the disappointment at Hampden:

We’ll have to wait and see what is ahead.

I must first deal with this setback, attempt to de-stress, and wait to see what the upcoming weeks have in store.

“I very much opened up about how much I adore the club when I stood here two years ago, and that hasn’t changed.

“There is definitely openness, but again, I need to process this today before we can make a determination.”

Similar to last summer, talks with Balogun seem to be a simple discussion about offering him a contract, which the seasoned defender would then sign without question.

He is among the select few who, even though they have never had any loyalty to the team, are aware that quitting Rangers is the only path left.

The one thing the huge defender regrets is not moving to Ibrox sooner:

I feel incredibly fortunate and thrilled to have the opportunity to extend my contract at a team like Rangers. I’ve expressed in the past that I wish my career had started here sooner since it keeps me motivated to excel constantly.

Balogun will provide a safe pair of hands as a backup

Although Balogun was brought back to Ibrox by Michael Beale, who then left him in the stands or on the bench, Balogun’s performance under Philippe Clement makes this choice obvious.

The manager may have confidence in the 6 feet 3 inch tall stopper.

Regretfully, at this particular period in time, not too many of his coworkers can share this sentiment.

Balogun is the kind of type that works best in a dressing room, so even though he will be 36 in the summer, he won’t get paid much.

Even though he hadn’t played in weeks, he remained a composed and confident presence at the centre of defence with a partner he’d hardly ever, if ever, played with under pressure.

Not every signing will fit the mould of a player traded model perfectly.

There must be some consistency.

However, things don’t appear good for Ben Davies, Connor Goldson, and John Souttar because Balogun is remaining and Thomas Galdames might be on his way.
