Georgia Selected To Host 2024 NCAA Baseball Athens Regional

Athens ———The selection committee revealed on Sunday night that the University of Georgia baseball club will be one of 16 regional hosts for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2019.

When the full field of 64, including the top 16 seeds, is revealed on Monday, May 27 at 12:00 ET on ESPN2/ESPNU, the three additional teams that will compete alongside the Bulldogs at the Athens Regional will also be revealed. A full schedule for the Athens Regional will also be made public on Monday afternoon.

Foley Field will host a regional tournament from Friday through Monday, May 31–June 3.

In the inaugural season under head baseball coach Wes Johnson, a former Ike Cousins player, eighth-ranked Georgia has amassed a 39-15 record, including a 17-13 record in the competitive Southeastern Conference. In Georgia baseball history, it is the most victories by a first-year coach both overall and in the SEC. Johnson also joins David Perno, who accomplished the feat in 2002, as the only UGA baseball coach to lead his debut club to the NCAA Tournament.

It will be the Bulldogs’ first NCAA Regional berth since 2022 and their fourteenth overall. The Bulldogs were second nationally in 2008, the year Georgia last made it to the College World Series.

Details of the Tickets
Tickets for the Athens Regional, either single game or all-session, will be available for purchase beginning on Thursday, May 30 at https://georgiadogs.evenue.net/list/BBS. They can also be purchased in person at the UGA Ticket Office, which is housed in the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall, or over the phone at 706-542-1231 or 877-542-1231.

If the Bulldogs finish in the top eight on Monday and win the Regional, they will play in the Athens Regional from June 7-9 or June 8-10. The winner of the Athens Regional advances to the best-of-three Super Regional, which will take place the following weekend at eight different locations. The Super Regional’s location is TBD if Georgia wins their regional tournament without earning a spot in the top eight. The College World Series, which will take place in Omaha, Nebraska from June 14–24, will see the eight Super Regional champions advance.
