Contract details revealed as Aston Villa lead transfer chase

Aston Villa is linked to Ross Barkley ahead of the summer transfer window opening, according to the most recent news.

Ross Barkley is reportedly being offered a long-term deal by Aston Villa in an attempt to entice him back to Villa Park.

This summer, Barkley’s one-year contract with Luton Town is scheduled to expire, making him a free agent. After an outstanding season with the Hatters, he is apparently attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, although Villa seem to be leading the race to sign him.

Recent reports suggested Villa were closing in on signing the 30-year-old on a permanent basis, three years after his loan spell with the club from Chelsea. And according to the Daily Mail, a three-year contract is being offered in a bid to see off other potential suitors.

Barkley scored three goals in 24 appearances for Villa while on loan in the 2020/21 season. He went on to depart Stamford Bridge a year later and joined Nice. A switch to Kenilworth Road then followed last summer as the Hatters bolstered their squad on the back of promotion.

Despite his inability to stop Luton from making an instant return to the Championship, the former England international had a fantastic season. He finished the season as the team’s player of the year with five goals and six assists.

Barkley recently stated in an interview that he thinks he can still compete at the highest level.Prior to the season’s conclusion, he made the following statement: “I want to play in the Premier League.” While it’s not my main priority right now, I would like to perform in Europe once more.

“I think I might still be in my peak for the next three years.”I know there have been ups and downs, difficulties, and wonderful times throughout the past five years, so I’m savouring every moment.

“I feel like I’m ready to perform at my highest level right now—consistently, and mentally as well. I feel young because I haven’t put much miles on my legs in a few years.”
