Newcastle United’s £100m transfer call sees Liverpool looking at Leeds United for ‘bargain’

Leeds United is aware that, in the event that they lose their Championship play-off match against Southampton on Sunday and are not promoted to the Premier League, top clubs will be vying for their services shortly after the final whistle at Wembley.

Archie Grey, Wilfried Gnonto, and player of the year Crysencio Summerville have all been linked to a move to the Premier League despite having signed a long-term contract earlier this season. If the Whites are not promoted, Leeds’ leading scorer will undoubtedly be in high demand; even if they are, he may become the subject of a lot of interest.

Liverpool is one team that seems to have their sights set firmly on Summerville. Arne Slot, a fellow Dutchman, has been replacing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, so it has always been an easy decision for his national. Nevertheless, after deciding against making a deal for Anthony Gordon, an England international for Newcastle United, sources now indicate Liverpool are prepared to intensify their interest.

Although Gordon is not a player the Magpies want to sell, they will have to let go of some players this summer in order to adhere to financial fair play regulations if they hope to bolster their roster with new players. Gordon, who has been excellent at St. James’ Park this season, has been priced at least £100 million by Eddie Howe’s team.

Liverpool has been priced out of the race as a result, and the Reds now view Summerville as a far more affordable option. Leeds’ valuable asset is being valued at £35 million. Getting the job done against Southampton comes first for the Whites, who will want to stay in the top division and retain the attacking wide player.
