‘I know for a fact’ – Journalist reveals Rangers in talks with investors to boost Clement budget

According to Peter Martin, Rangers are in talks with possible investors to assist increase Philippe Clement’s summer transfer budget.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on May 24, the former journalist for STV, talkSPORT, and Sky claimed that Rangers are “courting” businesses to bolster the team at Ibrox and maintain their competitiveness with Celtic, who now own 55 titles to the Gers’ 55.

After Clement moved to Ibrox in October 2023, the Govan club enjoyed a phenomenal rebirth under his leadership. Nevertheless, with contracts expiring and important players being linked to moves away, there will be a lot of work to be done on the squad this summer after losing out on winning the Scottish Premiership.

According to Martin, the Ibrox board is working hard to secure funding so that the Belgian may compete more next season.

“I believe that the primary concern for Rangers is to figure out how to support Philippe Clement,” Martin stated in a video clip that was posted on PLZ Soccer’s X account on May 24.

“I have no doubt that they are receiving investors at Ibrox. To support him and provide him with sufficient funds, they are attempting to entice investors to make investments.

It remains to be seen if the individuals they have been pursuing will genuinely join the trend and offer to donate the money and allow the management to try their hand at things.

“To try and stay neck and neck with Celtic, the biggest signings for Rangers this summer will be people who are willing to give them substantial amounts of money.”

Rangers in talks over new investment at Ibrox

John Bennett’s first year as Rangers Football Club has not been without controversy.

Douglas Park left him with quite the mess. Nevertheless, he continued to participate in the choices that resulted in Michael Beale taking over as manager, and he subsequently gave the ignorant Londoner unrestricted control over transfers during the summer transfer window.

Bennett fired Beale without waiting around. However, we can’t give him too much credit for choosing a choice that was so simple.

The Belgian did an amazing job to at least mount a challenge and force Celtic to wait until the final week of the season to secure first place, thus Clement’s hiring is commendable even though he did not win the championship. Things would have been much worse if he hadn’t performed miracles to save the sinking ship that Beale had left behind.

After winning the Scottish League Cup, Clement also has a trophy to his name. This Saturday, when the Gers play Celtic in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park, he might win two cups.

But he needs support. He appears to be the most talented manager Ibrox has had in a very long time.

It would be prudent to make new investments, especially this summer.
