‘A hero’: Alan Shearer thinks ‘stunning’ player has saved Everton on so many occasions this season

One Everton player who has been a “hero” for the 2023–2024 campaign has amazed Alan Shearer.

A scorching finish to the season, which featured five straight home victories, allowed Sean Dyche’s team to maintain their Premier League standing.

Throughout the season, Shearer hasn’t held back when praising Everton’s players; the legendary player from Newcastle United has taken a shine to Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Cumbrian-born defender, though, did not make Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Season.

Alan Shearer lauds Everton ‘hero’ Jordan Pickford

Shearer has praised Jordan Pickford’s impact at Goodison Park in his official Premier League column.

After recording 13 clean sheets, the former striker for Newcastle United was thrilled with how the Everton player pushed Arsenal’s David Raya all the way.

“Propelled David Raya all the way as he finished second in the fight for the Golden Glove, recording 13 clean sheets,” the writer said.

“A constant in goal, Pickford proved to be a hero many times, pulling off incredible saves to earn crucial points.”

Should Evertonians be concerned about Jordan Pickford’s future?

Pickford has been one of Everton’s most impressive players once more. This season, the former Sunderland player has made several incredible saves at crucial moments. His performance against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby was maybe his best.

But would Pickford’s impressive play have drawn attention from potential suitors?

The Toffees may have to sell some of their best players this summer if 777 Partners’ prolonged acquisition collapses into complete disarray.

Naturally, Pickford is one of the names that comes to mind. England’s top player has long been admired by Chelsea, and if Everton is forced to sell, Stamford Bridge may be a potential destination.

Everton supporters will be hoping that the 30-year-old’s departure becomes untrue over the next several months and that the off-field matters are promptly rectified.
